Industrial Landscapes

Last year I finally got myself motivated and put together a zine, a collection of images taken over the course of the previous year or so in and around various industrial estates in my home county of Norfolk. I’m going to be honest, the process of putting the zine together really tested my patience, mostly because at the time I was scanning all my own images which although was initially a fun challenge, it quickly became a chore and I was constantly second guessing myself on colour balancing and processing images. I’ve since sold my Epson V550 and now send all my film rolls to photo labs to do the hard work for me. I think if I were to create another zine, I would take much more pleasure in doing so. The process of selecting and laying out the images was extremely satisfying and one that I would look forward to repeating, just without the scanning bit next time! The zine itself is A5, perfect bound and contains 36 pages of colour images.

Now I’m sure the majority of people would find it odd to spend any amount of time wandering around these kinds of areas. I tend to visit on Sundays as almost everywhere is closed and therefore there’s nobody around. Not that I’m an antisocial kind of person, I just find it more enjoyable to not have people wandering in and out of my shots and with little to no traffic, I can stand in the middle of the road if needs be to frame a photo without too much fear of being ran over. Ultimately however it’s the quiet that I particularly enjoy. A total contrast to when the businesses are open and there’s nothing but noise, the lack of sound makes for a peaceful, almost therapeutic experience.

If you’d like to grab a copy, just shoot me a message on my instagram and I’ll get one out to you, the cost is a princely £7 plus whatever postage is so be sure to let me know where you live! International postage is no problem at all.

Thanks, Larry
