A collection of images taken during a short family trip to Margate in 2021. The area really resonated with me and reminded me of the seaside towns back in Norfolk and Suffolk with the kitsch aesthetic but here, juxtaposed with lots of areas of recent development and an abundance of independent businesses. We had a couple of longer walks along the seafront and the calm ocean was a perfect backdrop to some ordinary scenes. I enjoyed the various views out to sea and looking for viewpoints that differ from the typical seascape genre. Visiting late in the year the town was very quiet, the bulk of the tourist season left behind, perfect for my preferred ‘people-less’ landscapes.
